Spinneriet Bluegrass Festival Vol.1

Spinneriet Bluegrass Festival Vol. 1
Live at Spinroad Studios – A Pica Pau Release
Captured live at Spinroad Studios during the Spinneriet Bluegrass Festival 2024, Spinneriet Bluegrass Festival Vol. 1 is a vibrant and heartfelt snapshot of Sweden’s thriving bluegrass scene. Released on Pica Pau, this compilation brings together five of the country’s most exciting bluegrass acts, each contributing a unique take on the genre by pairing a reinterpretation of a beloved Swedish song with an original composition.
The album opens with High on Grass, a veteran band known for their traditional sound and adventurous spirit. Their version of Avicii’s “The Nights” kicks things off with infectious energy, followed by their driving original “Blue Train.”
49 Fingers bring soulful gospel harmonies and upbeat charm, turning ABBA’s “Money, Money, Money” into a banjo-laced anthem, alongside their moving original “Lost and Found.”
From Gothenburg, Just As Blue deliver a hauntingly beautiful rendition of Robyn’s “Hang With Me,” paired with the melancholic and melodic original “End of This Road.” Their sound is rooted in tradition, yet full of fresh emotion and depth.
Rookie Riot brings youthful energy and a bold fusion style to their performance, blending warmth and tight harmony on First Aid Kit’s “Emmylou” and pushing the genre’s boundaries with their original “Inside.”
Closing the album is Heart of Mine, a duo whose stripped-down aesthetic and rich vocal harmonies offer a more intimate take on bluegrass. Their emotional version of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” and their original ballad “Hold Your Fire” round out the collection with heartfelt depth and folk-pop sensibility.
Together, these five acts offer a celebration of bluegrass as both a deeply rooted tradition and a living, evolving art form. With live performances full of soul, spontaneity, and joy, Spinneriet Bluegrass Festival Vol. 1 is a one-of-a-kind musical document—raw, real, and unmistakably Scandinavian.
